Registration Window for Local Talent
Artist registration for the GO event in Brooklyn kicks off on June 4, 2012. This is an incredible opportunity for local artists to showcase their work to the community and vie for a chance to exhibit at the prestigious Brooklyn Museum. Registration will remain open until June 29, 2012. Eligible artists must possess a studio within the borough and commit to being on-site for the open studio weekend slated for September 8-9, 2012.
An Interactive Art Journey
The open studio weekend promises to be a unique, interactive art journey. Visitors will explore studios using their mobile devices to check-in and engage with the artists. With each studio visit, art aficionans will gain deeper insight into the creative process, directly from the source.
How to Participate
Participation is as simple as registering your studio and preparing to welcome community members. Art lovers will utilize various platforms, such as text messages, a dedicated GO mobile app, or the GO mobile website. Every studio will have a unique identifier aid in the check-in process.
Community Empowered Nominations
The power is in the hands of the public as they nominate their top three favorite artists post-visit. To qualify for nominating, visitors must check into a minimum of five different studios. The ten artists garnering the most nominations will receive exclusive visits from curators of the Brooklyn Museum.
The Prize: A Brooklyn Museum Exhibition
The culmination of efforts and public support for artists will be a group exhibition at the Brooklyn Museum. Two or more of the nominated artists chosen by the curators will have their creations displayed, beginning at the Target First Saturday event on December 1, 2012.
